To register for directed studies, WI:
1.  Discuss a plan for independent study with a faculty member who will agree to be the course instructor for you.  Click here to view a list of health sciences faculty who have served as instructors for directed courses or select a mentor from the Department of Neuroscience faculty list.

2.  Pick up a contract form from the Department of Neuroscience student services coordinator:         Kathleen Clinton

You may also obtain a contract form from the Student Services Office of the College of Biological Sciences, 223 Snyder, St Paul Campus. 

3.  Complete the contract form, including your signature, your instructor's signature and the signature of Kathleen Clinton.  Your grade will be determined based on a paper in the format of a journal article.  You must do a write-rewrite of the paper and complete at least 10-15 pages of finished writing. A first draft is to be turned in and corrected for writing and content by the instructor.  The grade, based on the final draft, must depend on the quality of the writing.  Click here for more detailed information.
